Seroquel
Seroquel® (quetiapine
fumarate) is an atypical antipsychotic drug manufactured by Astra
Zeneca to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia and mania in bipolar
disorder.
Why is Seroquel® dangerous?
Studies have shown it has
been linked to severe chronic illness and shown to cause diabetes (type
II), pancreatitis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and death caused by
pancreatitis. One of these studies by the Veterans Administration shows newer drugs approved to treat schizophrenia, including Seroquel®, were found to precipitate the onset of diabetes at a far faster rate than those not taking the drugs. Of the 877 veterans taking Seroquel®, 21 – or 2.39 percent – developed diabetes.
Seroquel® has also been linked to causing premature death, hypertension, stroke, obesity, cardiovascular disease, akathisia, and long-term neurological disfunction. If you or a loved one have
used Seroquel ® and experienced any of these serious side effects, contact us immediately as your legal rights have time deadlines.
