Yaz-Yasmin-Ocella
Find out if you have a Yaz®, Yasmin® or Ocella® side effects claim
In 2008, the birth control pills Yaz®, Yasmin®, and Ocella® were marketed as not
only a birth control pill, but also as a means to eliminate PMS (premenstrual
syndrome) and clear up acne. The manufacturer of Yaz® and Yasmin®, Bayer
Healthcare, ran the advertisements on television and other forms of media until
October of 2008 when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) insisted the
ads be revised to reflect only FDA-approved uses of the drug. Because of these
off-label marketing advertisements many women and girls have used the drugs for
purposes other than what they were approved for.
Since
Yaz®/Yasmin®/Ocella® has been available, it has been linked to a number of
serious side effects including blood clots in the lungs, legs, and other areas,
as well as strokes, heart attacks, gall bladder problems and even death. Though
Bayer Healthcare revised their advertisements to adhere to the FDA’s
requirements, the warnings offered are inadequate compared to the serious nature
of the potential side effects someone taking Yaz®/Yasmin®/Ocella® could
experience. Several Yaz®/Yasmin® lawsuits against Bayer Healthcare have already
been filed as more victims have been able
to make the link between their condition and the drug.
